On April 19, 2000 Mirror Image Barbershop opened its doors for business. We, Michael (Miz) Jones and Shawn (Boogie) Leyden had a vision that was finally developed. Our goal was not only to have a barbershop but to create a family friendly atmosphere of all ethnic backgrounds. Although Mirror Image was to be a place of business where one could receive proper hair care services, we wanted the barbershop to be much more. We wanted it to be a comfortable place where one could relax and find good conversation. The image of an older gentleman sitting in the corner offering valuable, many times unsolicited advice to a younger generation was just one of the images that sparked the creation of Mirror Image Barbershop. After searching for months for a good location, we chose Bound Brook, NJ. This location was chosen for two important reasons. The first was the idea of helping the Borough of Bound Brook rebuild after the flood of September 1999. After the flood, many small businesses were forced to close their doors. The town was ready to rebuild and we saw the opportunity and were prepared to help. The second reason was based on the diverse community. We understood that being a barber requires you to have skill cutting all hair textures and our expertise is custom tailored around all types of hair. Mirror Image prides itself on having a culturally diverse clientele of all ages. This is what we feel sets us apart from the rest. All ethnic backgrounds are represented and welcomed here. Coming to Bound Brook has exceeded our expectations. Our success is due to our wonderful clients, and the open arms of Bound Brook. Currently we are operating with four barbers and one braiding stylist. We specialize in various styles. They include regular cuts, fades, afros, tapers, straight razor cuts, shaves, and women's short hair cuts. Our barbers are highly skilled with both scissors and clippers. If there is one thing we want you to remember is that we are constantly striving to master "A Reflection of Perfection.
